I'm Afraid
I'm afraid to lose I'm afraid of loss I have saved and thrived I have struggled and survived But I fear for its worth I fear my treasure may not wait I fear my heart may not continue I am afraid, I'm afraid Stories I have written Songs I have sang Love…. I breathe every now and then. But I fear my loss Bone and flesh I have stretched for result In isolation and hard work, I have sowed many seeds I'm afraid it may wait or never grow again I'm afraid that the sun will not look at it I'm afraid that the ground will block its spring I'm afraid that the water will dodge its thirst. And leave love with nothing to feed and regain I'm afraid that hope may fade I'm afraid that love may start to whisper from its thunder sounds I'm afraid the love I once lusted for will stab me in the back I'm afraid, for I know not what may come my way Even after the work has been done Fate takes several steps for many reasons I fear what it planted beyond my horizon
