AFIKA

By AllwellJuly 27, 20262 min read

I went to a city way far from my home I saw she looked pretty and loved all my songs I called her by name, a name of my own The soft love whose hope keeps me awake We went on and on; she kept me in mind Made sure she serves me with care and her cheers Only to find out she stole my heart Without me knowing how swift that could be Afika my darling, how dear can you be Gave me your time, and left me to be I ask for your need; you kept me in silence But act as a servant when needed the most The little I wrote and asked you for love You slapped me to death with those words you said That voice in my head kept screaming at night Making me wonder what my hope could be Afika, my love, I wrote you a stone A stone with a myth tied to conceal The future with you, I am yet to see My love, I would keep it as long as you wish. And hope to let ease with one word you speak. Sorry I speak with so much meaning But cool down your ego and listen to me My strength I will gain after some disgrace I put you in front of my name again. So sad I shed tears all on my own Solving a mystery of love in disguise.
